Climbing Back Onto The Wagon

Well, it's been clean living for several weeks. However, the margaritas and pizza proved to be a fantastic combination on Friday night. I didn't go nuts the rest of the weekend, but I also didn't move as much as I wanted. I'm going to run tomorrow night, and then will be facing my first of two weeks with Bob traveling since I've started this adventure. I'm going to try some home routines from my Women's Health magazines on the days I work...getting to the gym on a school/work night is nearly impossible. Here's to getting back on the wagon!

All right, I'm up to 30 minutes on "fat burn". My new goal is to increase my minutes by 5 each time I go. I guess that's it...Merritt rock climbed while we were there, she made it 3 feet off the ground, pretty good considering she's only 45 inches tall!

I loaded my ipod with some new songs and comedy tonight, and hit the elliptical running. I went 25 minutes on Fat Burn. If you're unversed on the "Fat Burn" mode of a machine, it basically feels like going uphill slowly. You go slower to maintain a lower heart rate so you can go longer distances. Oh JOY, staying on it LONGER! Just kidding, I love the feeling of running without pounding my body into the ground. It felt great. I also had the extra added bonus of people looking at me strangely while I was giggling to myself at my comedy guy. I had the steam room all to myself, it was a good day!

On Sunday our pastor asked the congregation to consider what we wanted to be to our church family. I want to be an inspiration. The wife and mother that can volunteer, worship, lead, and take care of herself.

All right, I've stepped away from the ledge. If you've talked to me or seen my FB page in the last two days, you know I was in a rough patch. We went gym shopping today to see if there was anything cheaper and still a good fit. Answer: no way. We draw the line at co-ed steam and sauna rooms. So, I'm now making our gym my new best friend. It's all I've go that's "me" time, and I'm going to start "paying" myself.
In other news, we took the bikes and kids to Danville and did a 10 mile bike ride up and back on the Iron Horse Trail. Fun times! Bob sneered at me when I suggested that the way back was up hill to some degree. However, he had to admit it once he towed 50 pounds of Merritt-Grace, back over that section! It was very nice, actually, right up until Bailey's allergies got the best of her. I think we'll take the eyedrops with us and make it a once a week event for several weeks.

No news, is No news. I'm completely overwhelmed by just about everything, and hoping to do some list making because I'm currently drowning. I got a run in yesterday. The kids have been tag-teaming us with sickness, I'm hoping to be able to regain control over the weekend.

Today was "start the veggie garden day". I did none of the work, unless you count entertaining the kids and cousins, and fetching lunch...However, I made a fantastic, super-food, super-healthy dinner from Bob's MensHealth Magazine, and I will post the recipe when I have a minute to type it up. I also subscribed to WomensHealth Magazine, and later I'm going to try some lunges from it. Livin' the dream on a Saturday night!

Well, I woke up feeling great this morning, despite yesterday's migraine from hell. I ran 40 minutes on the eliptical, and did leg and arm machines for weights. I feel great, so far so good.

We had a huge load of rocks and dirt delivered today, so gardening will be my workout tomorrow.
I'm excited about trying some new recipies this week and planting a bunch of fun veggies in our new garden.

Migraines are the Devil himself. Tomorrow is another day.

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

We've been house bound for a few days with Bailey being sick. I got away to the gym in the afternoon, and thought I'd mix it up.

I tried out the "fat burn" cycle on the eliptical machine I love. I made it a mile, which felt like ten. Then, just for fun I did some weight machines for my legs. For my next trick, I came home and ate a banana in hopes to ward off charlie horse cramps in the night. No pain, no gain, right? However, I'm pretty sure tomorrow there will be some degree of pain. Hopefully, Bailey will get to school tomorrow, and I'll be able to get some kind of workout in the rest my days off!

Kim's New Project: Herself

April 14

If I've sent you this link, you're someone I care about and am inviting to share my journey on my new project: Me!

I've said publicly I'm going to have a different body when I turn 40. Hopefully, that means fitter, thinner, healthier. I'm about 19 months out from 40. I'm not planning a dramatic or rapid transformation, just a good one. I want to be a fun, healthy role model for my girls. My husband is a cutie, and a runner, and in some small way, I'm looking to keep up.

We joined a great gym about a year ago, and although up till now I haven't taken full advantage of it, I love it more and more everytime I go. I've lost 12 pounds in the last year, and have increased my cardio strength a ton. I'm not up to posting my weight, but you can believe I'll be honest about my progress.

My plan includes eating well and moving more. The working out and moving more are more of a challenge for me than the eating (although I'm no saint).

I've never blogged before, and cannot promise I'll do it everyday, or that you'll even care to read it. However, I've been feeling a strong desire to do something, start something, be a part of something, that can change my life and possibly inspire others to join me.

That's it for now...Kim
